A tree grows in Arkansas

And so it begins.  A tree beginning to grow in Arkansas.  Tie wire in 36 inch lengths folded in half  and twisted together.  The loop part of the wire is then folded to start to form the root system.

Three of them are now twisted together to form the trunk of the tree.

Smaller gage wire is then wrapped around the larger branches to make smaller branches.  Don't worry too much about how it looks. It all gets covered with floral tape and it hides a myriad of sins.

We begin the wrapping process.  Since I want it bigger at the bottom I make sure to wrap extra where I want it to be wider.  I always try to make a long wrap from top to bottom but making sure to wrap a few more times where I want it wider.  Work it with your hands to make it smooth.  We will make it have some texture later in the process.

I crisscrossed the tape around the roots at the base of the trunk to make them a seem to get thinner as they go out.  But I had to make them thicker.  So taking the tape as I came down the trunk and then crisscrossing it around the roots worked.  It was over and under and over and under and so on, forming it with my hands as I went to make it smooth.

Progress in a very slow process.  Hours of work really!  6 hours so far!

Just about done with the branches.  Still need to add some smaller ones to attach leaves to to make it look full.  Going to take a bit of time though!

Started punching out the leaves while I take a break from cleaning!  Hate cleaning house!

So today we took time to finish the trunk and the limbs.  Lots and lots of little limbs but I doubt that will be enough, however, I am going with what I have.

Now to start to shape the leaves.  Lots and lots of leaves!
